Everything around me was disgusting
and I got all dressed up to greet it.
The hind legs of dogs were rusting,
the rumps of cows squaring in
the mud, the insides of the bread
whiting away. Trees blurred away
from me as if I was driving somewhere.
I sat and waited for the apples to show
the black behind their green. Here, a greeting
card of flat land, drawn on top of sheet metal.
When I opened it, it sang a song.
