Venit ad Lucem

Venit ad Lucem

Oil painting on canvas.

“The vertical painting is titled "Venit ad Lucem" it is a 60"x40" canvas and the title translates to "come to light" the deeper meaning to the piece lays in the statue portrayed, The Rape of Proserpina and the contradiction of a work of art and how for years it was viewed as beauty and elegance. Yet, the true meaning of the sculpture depicts such a horrendous event in history. The painting is a reference to how so many beautiful faces have been affected by sexual assault and rape but stand infront of society with this suffering hiding behind the beauty.”
